Zamora Wind Band as it is today is the successor of the famous Provincial Wind Band, presented in 1919 and the result of the pedagogical work of Maestro Haedo at the Hospice. After having undergone several restructurations, in 1963 appears the Board for Music Promotion Wind Band (Banda de Música del Patronato de Fomento Musical), under the continued direction of the last conductor of the old Provincial Band, D. Felipe Blanco Aguirre up till 1979.

From 1981 onwards D. Nacor Blanco Toranzo takes charge of the Wind Band till 1990 when he takes a different role as second conductor and teacher, while Carlos Cerveró becomes first conductor till 1993. It is during this time that the Board gives way to the Consortium for Music Promotion.

From then onwards D. José Ignacio Petit Matías will be the conductor till October 1988. There is a rupture with the Consortium for Music Promotion in 1996, which brings about the birth of the Cultural Association Zamora Wind Band, to which the Band belongs nowadays.

Álvaro Lozano Rodríguez, Luis Miguel Jiménes Resino and Manuel Gran Roselló were successively conductors in this period.

In November 2001 José Ignacio Petit Matías retakes the baton of the Wind Band, which has in its ranks more than 70 musicians, and which had as its first performance the Musical Portico “Zamora Holy Week 2002"

The Wind Band has performed concerts in Asturias, Galicia, Andalucía, Cataluña, Madrid and Portugal, as well as in different places around the province, and, of course, within the city, where the wind band is the cornerstone at the local Holy Week.
In July 2002, the Cultural Association Zamora Wind Band takes part in the City of Valencia Wind Band International Competition 2002, considered the world’s most important in its speciality, where the band was awarded Fourth Prize. Also, in June 2003 the Band takes part in the XIII “Villa de Leganés” National Wind Bands Competition, where it is awarded Third Prize. In July 2004 the band attends the City of Valencia Wind Bands International Competition, being awarded Third Prize this time.

They is awarded with the first prize in the first section, the absolute prize and the Best Conductor prize at the XII Intenationa Competition for Symphonic Wind Bands Ostrava (Check Republic).
